21 Days

Celebration Service February 4

All are invited to a "21 Days of Prayer" Celebration Service on Monday, February 4, at 7 p.m. in the Valley Avon Sanctuary. Come share or just listen to what God revealed to us individually and as a church during our 21 days of focusing on "dangerous" prayers. This service was a highlight from 2018; it will be an inspiring evening!

There's no need to RSVP for this event. Please note there is no childcare.

Members and friends of Valley,

I invite you to begin this new year with me, the elders, and all our staff in a wonderful time of fellowship with the Lord through “21 Days of Prayer.” The guide will provide you with daily topics for prayer, Scripture lessons to prompt your conversation with God, and other resources such as space to journal your experience. A conversation, of course, is both listening and speaking. The booklet will guide you to do both.

I’m convinced that by uniting in these three weeks of prayer we’ll have our eyes opened to see how God is moving in remarkable ways among us. We began Monday, January 7, and will gather together Monday, February 4, to reflect on these 21 days of conversations.

The elders and I have just finished an 18-month study of a book by Pastor Tim Keller called “Prayer: Experiencing Awe and Intimacy with God.”  It’s an excellent resource for new ways to think about prayer and incorporate prayer into our busy lives. In the last chapter, Pastor Keller points out that a frequently used metaphor for our prayer relationship with God is a feast. Isaiah describes it this way:

… The LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine – the best of meats and the finest of wines. ... The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The LORD has spoken. (Isaiah 25:6,8 NIV)

Will you accept His invitation to this 21-day feast? I’m praying that during these three weeks, you will find it so satisfying that you will keep the feast going month after month throughout this new year. May your experience of God’s presence fill your soul.

21 Days FAQ

Where can I get a prayer book?

All guide books have been distributed, but we have ordered more and they should be available after services the weekend of January 12/13. You can also download a PDF of the book by clicking here.

Join in whenever you'd like! If you miss the start, make it 14 days, or 10 days, or whatever fits. The point is to pray repeatedly and intentionally.

Yes, of course! One great way is to join a growth group at Valley. There's also a Tuesday night group that meets at Valley Avon specifically to pray for our church and its people. Finally, join us Monday, February 4, to share what God has revealed to you, and hear from others about their experiences as well. This special gathering will be at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary at the Avon Campus.
