Welcome to Valley Community Baptist Church. We are one church in multiple locations with campuses in Avon and Bristol, CT. Our mission is to honor God and grow in Christ by worshipping God, equipping believers, bringing people to Christ and serving our neighbors. We would be honored to have you join us

Worship Service Times & Styles

We worship together on Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m in the Sanctuary in Avon. There's also a service at 10:30 a.m. at the Avon Campus in The Venue. There are communal dinners on most Saturday and Tuesday evenings at the Avon Campus. We also meet as small groups and classes throughout the week.  We look forward to meeting you.

Avon: 590 West Avon Road, Avon, Connecticut. Get directions and contact information.

Bristol: 718 Pine Street, Bristol Connecticut. We meet at Greene-Hills School in Bristol.

Children & Students

We encourage families to worship together on the weekend, and then choose children's programs and communities for middle school and high school students. During the week, we offer age-specific clubs and gatherings for children, middle school and high school students

There are also special events like summer camps, student retreats and the family summit that will help children and parents grow in their relationships with each other and God.

For Starters

 

Worship With Us:  Pastor Jay presents an eight-week sermon series called "The Courage to Make Godly Change" to kick off the fall. Worship times are in the orange box on the right).

Starting Point: Here's the perfect group for people who aren't even sure they should be here! Starting Point is a discussion forum about the basics of Christianity, and no topic is off the table. Go to our Starting Point page for more information.

101 CONNECT: These sessions focus on your relationship with Jesus and the church, and explors ways for you to get connected. It also serves as Valley's membership class. Click here to sign up.

Get in a Group: Growth Groups and Communities are the primary and most effective way to make connections at Valley. There are dozens of options at various times and locations.

 

Special Events

 

Men's Retreat: All Valley men and friends are invited to this two-day "not-an-overnight" retreat, October 4/5 at The Master's School. Click here to sign up.

Prayer Gathering: The Elders invite everyone to come to an all-church prayer gathering on Sunday, October 20, at 6 p.m.

Illusionist Night:  This family-friendly show will be enjoyed by adults and children of all ages! Watch the tricks performed; hear the Truth proclaimed! Tickets ($3) on sale soon.

Lessons & Carols: This family-friendly Christmas event includes Scripture and familiar carols and songs. Save the date and times — Sunday, December 15, at 4 and 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.  

 

For Little Kids (Infants-Kindergarten)

 

Nursery childcare and age-appropriate learning environments are provided for children through kindergarten at all weekend services.   Discover more about our Nursery and weekend programs

 

For Children (Grades 1-5)

 

During the Saturday night service childcare is offered for kids 3 and under.

Both Sunday services feature age-appropriate learning. Children attend the first part of the worship service and then are dismissed to their classes. They are, of course, welcome to stay with you during the service! Go to our Children's page for more information.

BLAST! is a weekly club for boys on Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m. at Valley Avon. Click here for more information, or register your child right now!

For Teens (Middle School, High School)

 

Riot, the Wednesday night Middle School weekly gathering, meets at 7 p.m. at Valley Avon.

Synergy, the Wednesday night High School gathering, is held in rotation with Life Groups at 7 p.m. at Valley Avon.  

On Sundays we encourage students to join us for special middle school and high school teaching during the 9 a.m. service, then worship with your family at one of the 10:30 a.m. services.

Special events such as the 8th Grade Fall Retreat and High School Fall Retreat, are all scheduled. Details coming soon, as well as registration, at our Student Upcoming Events page.

 

For"Young" Adults 

 

Whether or not you consider yourself a young adult ... you're welcome in this group! Young Adults meet Thursday nights at 7 p.m. at the Avon Campus, in addition to occasional retreats and off-site events. 

 

For "Experienced" Adults

 

Don't hesitate to join the Senior Adults group that gathers at 9 a.m. every Sunday in the Library! We also enjoy occasional meals and other activities together. Save the date: Our next monthly luncheon is Thursday, October 3, at noon at Valley Avon. 

 

For Women

 

SPECIAL FALL EVENT

“Together at the Table”: This special evening for all Valley women will focus on faith and friendship. Join us at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 20, at Valley Avon for a family-style dinner and dessert. Women’s Ministry Coordinator Heather James will facilitate an inspirational and interactive time together. Cost is $12. Click here to sign up.

For Men

 

SPECIAL FALL EVENTS

Men's Retreat: All Valley men and friends are invited to "This Year, Get Here" -- a two-day retreat (but not an overnight). We'll gather October 4/5 at The Master's School for a great time of brotherhood, music, food, and meaningful conversation. Click here to sign up.

REGULAR EVENTS

Men's Fraternity: About 150 men gather at Valley every Tuesday beginning September 17 to build relationships and encourage each other to become bold, authentic men of God. There's a 6 a.m. session and a 6:30 p.m. session. Details here.

Faithful Hands: This could be your serving sweet spot. Faithful Hands helps people in our neighborhoods who can't do it themselves. Teams hit the field one Saturday morning each month. Details here.

 

For When  You Need Help

 

Everyone goes through tough times; Valley's Care Ministry is designed to support and encourage you as you work through those difficult situations. Email Laura Costley to inquire confidentially about specific information.

Celebrate Recovery is our Thursday evening program for all adults. We all have our hurts, habits, and hang-ups. When they start interfering with our daily life and pursuit of joy, it's time to do something about it. Come check us out every Thursday at 7 p.m. (light dinner at 6 p.m.). No RSVP required.

GriefShare: This care group helps people who are mourning the death of a family member or friend. The 13-week session begins Monday, September 9, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 206. Registration is now open at our GriefShare page.

Called to Love:  This care group helps people with family members who identify as LGBTQ. Our quarterly gathering is Sunday, September 15, at noon in Room 209. Email Laura Costley to RSVP.

DivorceCare: This care group helps people who are trying to recover from the hurt of divorce. The 13-week session begins on Monday, September 30, at 7 p.m. at our Valley Simsbury Headquarters (3 Mill Pond, Simsbury). Registration is now open at our DivorceCare page

Healing Prayer Service: Are you suffering from or living with a physical, mental, or emotional condition? Gather with others in the presence of church leaders for prayer and support. Join us Monday, September 30, at 7 p.m. at Valley Avon.

 

 

For Friends With Special Needs

 

Everyone deserves an opportunity to worship, learn, and serve in our church, regardless of their abilities. If you know a child, teen, or adult with special needs, there's a place for them and the family here at Valley. Check out these options and more at our Special Needs page:

Buddy Program: An adult "buddy" works one-on-one with a child or teen in classroom environments during services or at Tuesday clubs.

Stars: A place for youth or children with special needs to be comfortable and engaged while family members are worshipping.
