Women

At Valley, we desire to help women discover assurance and hope in their identity in Jesus Christ and to find safety and satisfaction in Him.

We will treasure Christ together through ...

Christmas Open Houses

Christmas is a wonderful season to share Christ's message in a meaningful way. People's hearts are unusually open to spiritual matters and connecting with others.

Again this year, we are encouraging Valley women to invite friends, neighbors, and co-workers into homes for a more intimate gathering: a “Christmas Open House.”

 How? It’s simple….

  • Pray and schedule a get-together in your home (you choose the time and date).
  • You can team up with a friend to host your event.
  • Invite a few (or quite a few!) women to your home for a relaxed time with friends.
  • Share God’s grace and mercy with those around you as you build and deepen friendships.

In our isolated society, many people are honored to be invited into a home. This is a great opportunity for women throughout Hartford and Litchfield Counties to experience Jesus’ love this Christmas season!

God does not care as much about our ability as our availability; allow Him to work in your heart as you consider a gathering in your home. When we open our hearts as well as our homes, we're practicing Christian hospitality.

Download more ideas as well as follow-up information and opportunities. For booklets for your guests, prayer support, or if you have questions, contact Heather James, Women’s Ministry Coordinator at hjames@valleycommunity.cc.

We'd love to know about your gathering!

Classes & Groups

Women's Bible Study | Jeannette Brennan | Avon Campus

This fall we're digging into Scripture to explore how God created us to seek after Him - a God who desires to be found and known. We're using the Beth Moore video study, The Quest. Join us as we learn to develop intimacy with Jesus and embrace the adventure that comes with living a life for God. The study begins September 12 at 6:15 p.m. in the Sanctuary, and then in Room 328A. Book Cost: $18.  REGISTER HERE

Leadership Development | Avon Campus

Learn how to be a stronger, better leader at home, work, and church with the series The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth by John Maxwell. This is part of a Men's Fraternity program, but this class is also for women! The study begins September 12 at 6:15 p.m. in the Sanctuary, and then in Room 328B (Valley Cafe).     REGISTER HERE

Precept | LuAnn Turbiak | Avon Campus

Luke’s first account was his Gospel, where he recorded what Jesus did and taught. Luke's second account is called Acts, or the Acts of the Apostles, in which he recorded what happened after Jesus’ ascension to the Father. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit, empowering the apostles to testify to the power of God in salvation and in living every day for the Gospel. Learn how God spread the Gospel through witnesses of Jesus’ death and resurrection, and from their examples, how you, too, can witness to others. The study meets Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. in Room 206 and begins September 12. Book Cost: $20. REGISTER HERE

Mothers of Preschoolers | Kelly MacChesney, Meg Pascucci | Avon Campus

This community features great speakers on topics such as strengthening your marriage, improving your mothering skills, growing in your faith, and fostering meaningful friendships. Invite a friend! We always have great food, hot coffee, and lots of conversation around the table. MOPS meets from September to May, roughly every other Monday, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Room 206. The first session is September 18. There is a $55 fee for MOPS International dues and craft materials. REGISTER HERE

Moms Bible Study | Heather James | Avon Campus

This Bible study group meets twice monthly at the Avon Campus. Using the book None Like Him by Jen Wilkin as a springboard, we’ll dive into the Bible together and study the character of God. Knowing God’s character affects our daily lives, our relationships, just about everything! All women are welcome. Please join us! MBS meets from September to May, roughly every other Wednesday, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Room 206. Book cost is $10. Childcare available. REGISTER HERE

ESL Book Club/Bible Study | Val Prado, Sandy Martin | Avon Campus

An ESL Bible study for women meets every first and third Thursday of the month from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Library at the Avon Campus. There will be a focus on comprehension and conversation as together we read and discuss the book None Like Him by Jen Wilkin. No registration required. The study begins on Thursday, October 19. For more information, contact Val Prado.

Community Bible Study | Avon Campus

Community Bible Study meets September to May every Thursday at 9:15 a.m. This year, CBS will study the Book of Acts over 30 weeks.
